Gavin Shane Degraw was born on the 4th February 1977, in South Fallsburg, New York State USA, of Jewish, Irish and Russian ancestry. He is a musician, singer and songwriter, probably best recognized for releasing four noted studio albums – “Chariot”, “Gavin DeGraw”, “Free”, and “Sweeter”, on which he has a great number of hits, such as “I Don’t Want To Be”, which is the theme song of the TV series “One Tree Hill”. Gavin is also known as an actor. His career has been active since 1998.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Gavin Degraw is? It is estimated by authoritative sources that the size of Gavin’s net worth is over $11 million as of mid- 2016, which has been accumulated through his successful career in the entertainment industry, not only as a musician, but also as an actor.
Gavin Degraw was brought up in a musical family by his father, Wayne Degraw, who worked as a prison guard, and his mother, Lynne Krieger, who was a detox specialist; he has two older siblings – brother Joey and sister Neeka, both of them are involved in the music industry as well. During high school, he received a music scholarship to study at Ithaca College, but he dropped out after the first semester, and moved to Boston where he enrolled at Berkley College of Music, but which he also quit, as he decided to pursue his musical career out of college.
Although he was surrounded by music from an early age, and began playing musical instruments, Gavin didn’t ventured professionally into the musical industry until 1998, when he started a solo career, playing in numerous bars in Manhattan. Soon, his name was heard throughout the area, and he was noticed by Debbie Wilson, who became his manager. Little by little, Gavin’s career began to develop, and he signed a contract with J Records, owned by Clive Davis. He began to work on his debut album, which was released in 2003, entitled “Chariot”, which achieved platinum status, increasing Gavin’s net worth by a large margin, thanks to the hit single “I Don’t Want To Be”, that was featured as a theme song for the teen drama series “One Three Hill”.
Subsequently, Gavin started working on his second, self-titled album, which came out in 2008, and reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart; however, its sales were slightly less than half of his debut album, but it also added a substantial amount to his net worth.
The following year, Gavin released his third album, entitled “Free”, which entered into the top 20 albums on the US Billboard 200 chart, at No. 19, and sold more than 29,000 copies, again contributing a lot to the overall size of his net worth.
He then switched to RCA Records, and released his fourth album in 2011, entitled “Sweeter”, reaching No. 8 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and which sold 34,000 copies in its first week, adding further to Gavin’s net worth.
Most recently, Gavin released his fifth album, entitled “Make A Move” in 2013.
His net worth has also benefited from his acting career, appearing in such productions as “Dead Like Me” (2004), “Martina McBride Everlasting Tour: Live At The Ryman” (2015), and he was also a contestant in the reality TV show “Dancing With The Stars” in 2012, partnering with Karina Smirnoff.
If to talk about his personal life, there is no information about Gavin Degraw in the media, except that he was in a relationship with actress Amanda Loncar in 2004. According to some sources, he is currently single.
